    Our 2023 Laureates

    Awards ceremony upcoming!

    Our three 2023 laureates will be inducted into our College of Laureates at a gala ceremony at the Hilton ballroom, Port of Spain on June 3. The event will not be streamed live but will be broadcast on TV channels across the region as part of a 30-minute documentary on our laureates’ work and lives.

    Our 2023 laureates are:

    Joanne C. Hillhouse, writer from Antigua & Barbuda (Arts & Letters)

    Dr. Adesh Sirjusingh, public health doctor from Trinidad and Tobago (Public & Civic Contributions)

    Dr. Mahendra Persaud, agri-scientist from Guyana (Science & Technology)

    In recognition and support of work that uplifts the region, each will be presented with TT$500,000, an Anthony N. Sabga Awards commemorative coin, and a citation. We are very much looking forward to the presentation and their remarks.

    The Anthony N. Sabga Awards – Caribbean Excellence are the region’s most prestigious Awards. They began as a biennial event in 2006 and have been awarded annually since 2010. As of 2023, 57 laureates have been named and over TT$28 million awarded.

    The awards are administered by the ANSA McAL Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the ANSA McAL Group.

    Awards are made in four categories:

    • Arts & Letters

    • Entrepreneurship

    • Public & Civic Contributions

    • Science & Technology
